The amazing D23 News I was hoping would be announced… but wasn’t

As I am sure you all know, Disney’s D23 Expo wrapped up this weekend and we enjoyed lots of cool news. If you’re not up to date on everything that was announced, check out my roundup post here. For this post, however, I’d like to talk about the things that were not announced that I wish had been in relation to the parks, particularly Disneyland and Walt Disney World.

Debunking some common criticisms from Disney World skeptics

Right off the bat let’s agree on one thing: Walt Disney World is NOT for everyone. I totally get that, and honestly, if it really isn’t your thing then I don’t want to convince you to go… because then you may just end up ruining my trip! But, there are complaints that I hear all the time from people who haven’t been there, or who have been there but had a bad experience and wrote Disney World off entirely. Today I’d like to debunk a few of the criticisms that I consider unfair…

For Savers, Disney Premier Visa Card NOT the best option. And the best option might surprise you!

About a year ago I signed up for the Disney Premier Visa card offered by Chase. At the time, it seemed like a great idea and a fantastic way to save money for the frequent Disney trips that I take. I use credit cards all the time, so this is a great way to earn precious Disney savings, right? Well…. sadly, no….

Forget Star Wars and Marvel Lands – How about Indy Land?

I wrote this blog as a guest author for my friend at MouseOnTheMind.com but I enjoyed writing it so much that I decided to repost it here, too, for posterity…

I know that if people got to pick which land came to Walt Disney World first that most would far prefer Star Wars Land or Marvel Land. But, for my money, the franchise I’d most love to see get its own land is Indiana Jones! It was, by far, my favorite trilogy as a young lad and I love the mystique to this day. So I’d like to present my vision for Indy Land, coming to Walt Disney World someday soon (I hope). First, let’s talk everyone’s favorite, attractions, where I envision these staples…

Free Disney Dining Announced for 2015 – Major Problems Ensue

As I am sure you know by now, yesterday Disney announced their Free Disney Dining Plan Promotions for 2015. I won’t go into all the details, but some of my Disney colleagues covered it well: Disney Tourist Blog’s coverage / Orlando Weekly’s coverage

I have a feeling that Disney is perhaps trying to phase out the free dining promotion a few steps at a time. Right off the bat, I noticed a few things that was different this year than from previous years:

Three Earth-shattering things I would do right now if I was Disney CEO Bob Iger

When people ask me where I want to be late in my career, I tell them I want to be the CEO of Disney (shocker, right?). The big kahuna. Nothing would be more satisfying than to lead a company I love into the future even if it was a short tenure. I’m not quite Disney CEO material yet, and Bob Iger is doing a great job, but that doesn’t mean I can’t ruminate on what I’d do today if I was. And, if Mr. Iger happens to stumble on this and likes any of my ideas he can certainly give me a buzz and start grooming me now. Without further ado, here are three (non-obvious) things I’d do if I was the CEO of Disney right now. Our Top Five Posts of 2014

It is hard to believe, but this was my first (partial) year blogging about all of my favorite Disney things! It’s been a great year and looking forward to 2015. According to this quick little recap of my five most viewed posts in 2015, my readers and I have one thing in common: we LOVE eating at Disney, and we like making sure our experience is top notch. Without further ado, my top five posts of 2014 in case you missed them (or loved them so much you want to read them again):

Disneyland Trip Report – December 2014

I was down in Disneyland this past weekend with my girlfriend and two of our bff’s, Ken and Abbi. I have not braved Disneyland during the holiday season in quite some time because I am more of an “off-peak” kind of guy, but Ken and Abbi really wanted to go see the decorations so we decided to brave the crowds, too! All in all, it was a very successful trip even if my feet practically fell off by the end of the third day (must be that winter weight…).

We arrived on Friday morning, flying into John Wayne, and when we arrived the airport was getting pounded with what I can only describe as Noah’s Ark level rain. It was tremendous! We were a bit worried that Disneyland was going to be flooded but some how, some way, Disneyland itself was dry as a whistle when we arrived around 11 AM. This was actually quite a good thing, because the rain earlier scared off a lot of the annual pass holders, so crowds were not as bad as they might have been otherwise. We were in the park Friday, Saturday, and Sunday… but enough about logistics, let’s get to the details (behind the fold)!

Disneyland Wish List: New Track for Matterhorn

Obviously I love Disney like everyone else who reads this blog. But, like all Disney lovers (well, most Disney lovers) there are still places I’d love to see some improvement. I previously wrote an article on the Five Major Changes I’d love to see in Disneyland’s Tomorrowland. I tried to adapt this to the other lands but I realized that I couldn’t think of five things per land that I wanted to changed. But, there was one big thing in Disneyland I am really craving and that is a new track for the Matterhorn!
