The amazing D23 News I was hoping would be announced… but wasn’t

As I am sure you all know, Disney’s D23 Expo wrapped up this weekend and we enjoyed lots of cool news. If you’re not up to date on everything that was announced, check out my roundup post here. For this post, however, I’d like to talk about the things that were not announced that I wish had been in relation to the parks, particularly Disneyland and Walt Disney World.

A roundup of all the best D23 announcements from this past weekend!

If you didn’t follow D23 closely, I thought it may be helpful (now that it is over) to provide some updates to you. The very simple gist of it, at least as far as the US parks are concerned, would be as follows:

60 Cool Facts about Disneyland to celebrate their 60th Anniversary

AllEars.net posted a fun article with 60 great facts on Disneyland. Here are a few of my favorites:

1. Since opening day in 1955, the Disneyland Resort has welcomed more than 700 million guests to The Happiest Place on Earth. That number includes guests from approximately 200 nations, nearly every country in the world today.

5. More than 50 scuba divers work year-round to maintain Disneyland Resort attractions, including “World of Color” at Disney California Adventure Park and Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage at Disneyland Park.

Disneyland Trip Report – December 2014

I was down in Disneyland this past weekend with my girlfriend and two of our bff’s, Ken and Abbi. I have not braved Disneyland during the holiday season in quite some time because I am more of an “off-peak” kind of guy, but Ken and Abbi really wanted to go see the decorations so we decided to brave the crowds, too! All in all, it was a very successful trip even if my feet practically fell off by the end of the third day (must be that winter weight…).

We arrived on Friday morning, flying into John Wayne, and when we arrived the airport was getting pounded with what I can only describe as Noah’s Ark level rain. It was tremendous! We were a bit worried that Disneyland was going to be flooded but some how, some way, Disneyland itself was dry as a whistle when we arrived around 11 AM. This was actually quite a good thing, because the rain earlier scared off a lot of the annual pass holders, so crowds were not as bad as they might have been otherwise. We were in the park Friday, Saturday, and Sunday… but enough about logistics, let’s get to the details (behind the fold)!

Disneyland Wish List: New Track for Matterhorn

Obviously I love Disney like everyone else who reads this blog. But, like all Disney lovers (well, most Disney lovers) there are still places I’d love to see some improvement. I previously wrote an article on the Five Major Changes I’d love to see in Disneyland’s Tomorrowland. I tried to adapt this to the other lands but I realized that I couldn’t think of five things per land that I wanted to changed. But, there was one big thing in Disneyland I am really craving and that is a new track for the Matterhorn!
